Open Space - the real thing
In mid October I drove out to northwestern Kansas to celebrate my grandma’s 90th birthday with my extended family.
Grandma now lives in town but when I was growing up I would spend a few weeks each summer out on their farm with my siblings while our parents escaped back home for some peaceful kid-free moments.
The house and barn and farm animals are now gone but the land is still being farmed. Or at least trying to be farmed, the weather hasn’t been very cooperative the past few years.
This is definitely some serious big open space:

beautiful pix, Lisa. I’m starting to get an idea of what inspires you.

Lisa, I LOVE these photos, and I see the kernals of your work in them… really very nice. The bottom pic of the silos sure would make a nice drawing, painting, or inspiration for a quilt… it’s a composition just waiting to be worked into someone’s art. :-)

The vastness makes you feel so small, yet so open, very much like the ocean. I really can feel this in some of your work. Jen

Lisa, awesome open space. Dang — thanks for that link through comment!
Love the one with the nubbin of a building foundation and darkening sky.
Well, I must ask (and you can email me back) — may I link to your blog?
I realize I’m not a full-time professional artist like others you’ve linked to, but would love to share your thoughtful posts and eye with others who visit me and mine.
