Winter is Coming

It was a very productive day today. I pieced the back for 4 quilts, basted 3 of them, finished a quilt top I started last weekend, made a few adjustments to another piece I made this summer, started yet another structures quilt (it will be #53), worked for a while on structures #47 that has been on my design wall for months, updated my website and vacuumed my studio.

I love productive days like this!

I’m not ready to post pictures of the piece I finished today as it is #2 of a new series and I’m still not sure how I feel about it. I made #1 over the summer and was in the mood to make a second in that series last weekend. But I need to spend more time working on these ideas before they are ready to go public. The work is growing on me so that’s a good sign.

I will say that all of the work I’m doing this week seems to be very dark and colorless. Ten days ago it was warm and sunny and the past week has been cold and dreary feeling, winter is upon us and all the promises of summer are gone.

This was the view of the mountains this morning, about a mile from my house. You can definitely tell winter is coming to Colorado - snow on the mountains and an ugly inversion layer over Denver.

ah, this is where the snow is!!! My DH is in charge of a ski trip to Tahoe in two weeks and the ground is barren. It is in the high 50’s at Tahoe!!! I am putting out good snow vibes so he will go and I can sew 24/7.
