Hello Again

I’m back. Thanks to everyone for email and comments about enjoying my blog - they did mean a lot to me.

I’ve spent the last month doing a lot of thinking about my art and my art career and how this blog fits into the picture.

I’m not sure I came to any conclusions or definite ideas but there are some murky thoughts that are starting to take shape and I’ll be talking about them over the next few weeks as I get back into blogging.

A couple notes about admin changes going forward:

-At one point I posted that I’d only be responding back in the comments section instead of sending private email. I didn’t do a very good job following through on that but my goal is to follow through with this in the future as I really love the conversations that can occur this way. If you ask me something or comment about something look for a response in the comment section.

-I was posting up to 5-7 times a week before I took a break. While I do love writing about my work I felt at times the blogging was done in lieu of doing the artwork. Now I’m going to try to focus on a better balance. Going forward I’ll probably only be posting 3-4 times a week (or maybe less). I’ll just have to see where it goes. I do want to avoid feeling like I have to post every night.

I thought my first post should have a photo but I haven’t taken any over the past month so here is a photo from 2002. It was taken from the top of Crystal Peak and the view is of Quandry Peak.

Lovely to see you back Lisa. I have thought about you and your decision while you have been away and I really admire you for taking it. Your focus is where it should be - you are an inspiration.

Welcome back…but as I always say, first and foremost, blogging should serve an inward purpose and then the readers and commentors are delights in the process.

Nice to have you back. Hope you can find the right balance. The picture is nice. It has a blend of light and dark values as well as a subtle hue variation. Not to mention the scene is breathtaking.

Hi Lisa, so glad you are back. I have checked almost every day in the hope that you would decide to blog again. I really enjoy your writings about your work and your administrative skills. Maintain the balance - life is best when there is some of lots of things!

Thanks everyone - it’s good to be back. And Karoda I totally agree the greatest value of blogging is the internal benefits.

Finding that balance is something I’m struggling with as well. I too started my weblog with the intentions of posting primarily about my crafting, but giving the fact that we just moved and are now in the middle of an entire renovation, all of my crafting supplies are packed away — and I have no energy at the end of the night to sew. I’m thinking about taking somewhat of a break to collect my thoughts and focus, but I do enjoy writing so much, as well as being connected to others through their weblogs that I’m worried about taking a break. Did you have any similar feelings?

I send a lot of email to stay in touch with folks in addition to blogging - so the break in blogging didn’t cause a disruption to my connection with others. A few via the blog but I knew if they were interested they’d be back - and many people seem to have found me again so that is nice.

I found your blog several days after you took your break! I enjoyed going back through your posts and reading about your work. I took your advice on your safety pin source, great find. I came by to give a link for a post I’m doing and was so excited to see you were back. Can’t wait to see all your new work.
