I enjoy the organic patterns of the water juxtaposed with the straight lines of the deck and the reflection of the rail posts.

I’m also really happy to see the water beading on the deck instead of soaking into the wood and ruining it. Yahoo - I got my deck restained before it rained again.

I saw the same on our newly stained deck after recent rains, but didn’t think to document it as you did. Thanks for pointing out how easily we overlook the truly beautiful in nature… more perfect than the over exposed roses and such.

You seem to have a knack for photography as well as blogging and art quilt making. I really enjoyed both these and your recent dyed fabric photo.

Love the pix. I remember taking similar pictures on my deck a while ago. There is something magic about it.

So glad to have happened across your work. After spending several minutes just the other afternoon entranced by water puddling on my sidewalk after a shower, it’s refreshing to find someone else who sees art and beauty in the simple pleasures in life.

I love the way the abstract images of the water play against the wood grain of the deck… it’s interesting how what is abstract is just as “real” as something we recognize, but as soon as we don’t recognize something, it becomes abstract…

Great photos - great inspiration for an art quilt!

Lisa, These are great images! You should be a photographer–as well as quilt artist. I too love water. My first solo show “The Color of Water” was dedicated to all the interesting qualities of water, like transparency, reflection, etc.

Ed - thanks! What a wonderful subject for a show. I can see so much potential there.

Brenda and Pat - thanks for the comments. It is fun to find art in everything. Life is richer that way.
