Pegboard
I’m enjoying the conversation going on in my previous post. Thanks all for your very thoughtful comments. I was thinking about responding but I might just let this conversation be.
Last week I posted about a review of a quilt show that was hung on pegboard walls.
The organizer of that show posted this comment on the artquiltreview blog:
A special thanks to the critique and all follow-up comments from the Art Department at GCU. As a direct result of this discussion, the gallery will be removing the pegboard and installing an appropriate gallery hanging system.
Artists can make a difference. We don’t have to show our work in ways that makes it look cheap. We need to speak up if a venue isn’t up to par. This time the gallery listened and is going to do something about it. Hurray.

Unbelievable! And great news. Also shows that it doesn’t hurt to educate on peripheral issues as well as on the art itself. That pegboard was so distracting.

Education is always a good thing. You have to wonder who’s idea the pegboard was in the first place.
Shelia - your pictures of Idaho are gorgeous - congratulations on making the move.
