Thanks Lisa. For a while I was using black quite a bit but the last few years it seems to have disappeared so I'm working on bringing it back for a while.

The black thread looks great! Of course, nearly every artwork I own has black outlining, for some reason.

There is a wonderful warm and earthy feel here that makes me want to lay down on it and sleep blissfully.

Lisa, what size is the sample here? I see it as a large piece in my mind's eye.

I know what you mean, color is so personal and subjective. The right hand quadrant including the orange, red and black happens to be my favorite part of this quilt. But, then again, orange is a fav of mine. As hard as I try to focus on the whole quilt, my eyes keep on diverting to the yellow square.

Black of course makes a difference to what we see of your stitching on the monitor. I always find it interesting to see how one colour changes both itself and other colours as it crosses from one background to the next, and how one quilting colour can affect the relationship of the pieces' colours with each other.

I really like the black thread across all of the colors in your "study"... I have quite a list of colors that are so-not-my-colors (like bright orange) to work with while in Oregon. I love spending time focused on expanding my color sense and palette!

I like it! I think the black darkens the piece less than I would have anticipated. (Though I'd have to see before and after details to get a good feeling.) I think that's what you were testing for, yes? Interesting! Can't wait to see the results on the larger piece.

I think the black thread is very dramatic and looks great on this piece. I love all of your work and really appreciate you sharing it here!
