I see the horizontal line---and it bothers me too. I wonder what would happen if you made that bottom section very much shorter. Or took it off and turned it upside down and resewed it. I think you have a lot of options --and I don't think it will take much to fix it. It's just know the right 'much' to do that's the issue. When I first saw the piece, I wanted the darker gray on the left to exten down into the yellowy-green section immediately below--it's like it was cut too short---but the more I look at it, the more I think you have even more options.

Thanks for posting--and hope you show us some of the possible variations.

it is just wonderful to see some of your in process. i think the thoughts and steps of an art work are a big part of the product. after admiring your work for so long, this is a treat.

It's nice to see what you have been working on these last few weeks. I know you didn't ask for suggestions, but I offer some anyway. I see the horizontal line you are concerned about. What if you broke it up and moved one block section up or down to create a little more excitement with that line? My other thought would be to have the skinny rectangular whitish block continue on and "run into" (overlap) the darker square block. Have you tried turning it upside down? Sometimes that will give you a new perspective into problem areas. I look forward to seeing what you resolve to do.

Welcome back!

I appreciate your taking the risk of sharing unfinsished work with us.

For what it is worth, I see the horizontal line that you are talking about - I think it is helpful you are analyzing it to see if you want to change it.

You are an inspiration for me in many ways. I too often find it hard to create around others - I have come to prefer to do it alone.

Could it be that the upper left corner of the lower right horizontal is fairly close to dead center? or that the upper left horizontal is the same width as the box below it and the lower right is not the same as the box below it? or that the box below the right horizontal is shorter than the similar one on the left? My eye travels from top left to bottom right and stops short, I don't feel like I get pulled back up and in.
I applaud you in showing unfinished work...I wish I was brave enough to show finished stuff. I love your work and love the blog, it is great to read how other artists work........thanks!

I really like the fact that the piece is large, and would like to see another picture of it once it's on your design wall -- just to be able to put that size in perspective to wall sizes.
Do you think that the horizontal line that bothers you is more evident because of the piece's size? Or could the size itself have obsured a potential problem while piecing it? I know that size magnifies, but sometimes I wonder whether it's easier to minimize problems when the eye can't take everything in at one time. Sort of like boldness trumping places that need compositional tweaks.
Anyway, welcome back. Looking forward to more stories.

I think it needs some horizontal lines or a plain space to break up all the verticals. It seems very tightly controlled to me.

Very brave to put this up :)

I'm curious about how quilting lines will impact/affect the compositon. I, too, appreciate your posting in progress work ... the struggles of decision making that's no longer evident in your fabulous "perfect" finished art. Thank you.

Welcome back home! I can't see the line either and it looks like a slightly different color palette than the ones you have used in the past.

I think part of the beauty of a blog is to show the whole artist. Excellent, fair and bad work show your process. It's good for your readers to see how you'll resolve this piece to your liking.

I couldn't see the line you were worried about lol! It all looks great to me, but I understand how something can bother you. I have this tiny chipped piece on a graffiti panel that I am sure NOBODY can see but I can and it makes me want to spit and curse. Anyway this is really lovely.
