Weekend Plans

Structures #37 ©2007 84" x 72"
Although I don’t have any vacation time left at the day job (I’m currently about 20 hours negative) I’ve decided to take Thursday and Friday off and spend the next 5 days concentrating on my art. My plan is to spend 10 hours in the studio each day and 2 hours working on the business side of my art. I have a list of quilts I’d like to complete during this time and my main goal for the office work is to reevaluate my goals and get back on track in that direction.
I haven’t had an opportunity to focus on my art like this for a very long time so I’m quite excited.
But before I start I’m off to see if Bruce Willis survives in Live Free or Die Hard. My 14 year old son tells me he’s an ancient action hero. I wonder how old action heroes are allowed to get – think there is a rule?
I finished the above quilt last year and I realized I never posted a finished image of the quilt. It’s quilted with dozens of different thread colors, which I wrote about last year in this post about thread.

Hi Lisa,
How wonderful that you are treating yourself to this kind of time to work on your passion and also work on clarifying goals … I am sure you will do wonders.
I am glad you are giving yourself a break too!

“I wonder how old action heroes are allowed to get – think there is a rule?”
I am determined to break that rule. . . if it is there.
I see my 40 year old peers still making rock and roll with poignant sincerity.
I see retired elders joining the Peace Corp.
I see the idea of the Action Hero as something that can run from slapstick to dry.
How old is the idea of the “Action Hero” and what has it done to us?
How great…I’m you will make lots of head way.
By the way, I tried the quilting and burying of the knots that you talked about a week or two ago on a quilt I just finished, and I am so happy with this new method. I actually found the finishing of the thread ends quite relaxing…it was good to sit and admire my work up close and know that I was doing the best quilting.
Thanks for passing on the method.
Well, yeah, ya gotta find out if Bruce Willis makes it or not before you can get any work done in the studio. Duh!
Good for you — enjoy the time off and hope you get caught up. I can’t wait to possibly buy one of your quilts one day — how exciting would that be?!?!
How old is Superman?
Enjoy your long creative weekend!
Thank Diane.
Kiandra – glad the method worked for you. I’m really enjoying it also.
Steve – I’d put action hero as an invention of the 80s – with arnold and rambo. Prior to that I think we focused more on super heros (such as superman – Cynthia – he’s one old guy). Or maybe I’m just not old enough to remember any action heros from the 70s.
Tracy – I wasn’t surprised by the outcome – but I was able to stay more focused without the wondering eating away at me.
Charmaine – it would be very exciting if you were to buy one of my quilts someday – most definitely.
