Two More Barns
The road to the Bend of Ivy Lodge, where I attended the Great Big Dreams Retreat last weekend, makes a slight curve to go around this old barn. I love these old barns and had to stop and take pictures on my way home. What lines and shapes! Incredible.
This is the front side of the same barn. What a beautiful design.
This barn was on the same road but I couldn’t find a safe (close) place to park my car so took pictures from the road. I suppose this could be a self portrait in the sideview mirror.
My apologies to those of you reading my blog posts from feedblitz. I know the images no longer show up for some people after I turned on hotlink protection. I am able to see the images fine from feedblitz using thunderbird.
Could those of you that can’t see the images leave a comment or send me email with the name of the email program you are using? Could be the web based email readers are the problem and if so I can probably do something to fix that.

I don’t know what you did, but it fixed it for me. I’ve been getting my blogs by direct RSS feed to my email in-box, and today’s is the first one that showed photos.

I just LOVE old barns and these one’s are just fabulous. I am not surprised you had to stop and take some photographs (which are great shots).

Lisa, I can see the images fine using Apple Mail. And I love running into barns like these. Here’s a question: Do you print these? Or just keep them as digital? Do you have an inspiration book for them?

I definitely see some quilts inspired from this barn. I love these old barns - I tend to look at them and wonder at all that’s happened there. the retreat sounds fabulous and inspiring. (BTW - the images don’t show through on my hotmail)

I use google reader and don’t see the pictures either. Actually I don’t mind, I like looking at the real stuff (= the original blog) much better anyway, so just use the reader to check for new posts.

Alyson - I usually don’t print the pics. I have inspiration boards in my studio with pictures from a print camera - it’s on my “nice to have” list - printing digital pictures.
Thanks for the updates on the different mail readers - I thought I fixed google reader - I’ll check it again. I’ll see if I can figure out hotmail. I recently fixed beta blogger so hopefully it will now work.

I was in Ouray long ago Suzanne. Sounds like I need to head back - I bet I’d love those buildings. I’ve been meaning to do a colorado road trip. This might be the year for it.

Lisa, I absolutely adore your photos of the barns. I love your eye and I can see where you get your inspirations. They remind me of the mountains where I grew up. We used to see these barns every day and they never lost their beauty or mystey to me. I can also see where they would be an inspiration for your designs. I’m blown away by your site and as to a magazine I would recommend which I truly love, “Southwest Art.” Took “Artforum” and “Art News” for years and never could get into reading them. They seemed to cerebral to me. For me, artis not about thinking, it’s about feeling and connecting. I just want to feel the art and if it doesn’t move me, then it’s not for me. Southwest is a blend of colors and design that just turns me on. So that’s my penny’s worth. Got to go check out now because I’ve got to go to an art opening for the City of Norfolk and be the local psychic and tell their futures while get to sit surrounded by all that beauty. Lucky me. Judy
