Dyeing

This weekend I finally found time for my first fabric dyeing session of the season. It needs to be at least 70 degrees to dye fabric, and preferably much hotter, so this is a summer time only event.

In the last 4 hours I’ve dyed about 60 yards of fabric and now its going to sit in the sun and create deep rich colors.

My Yard

I completed my home remodel over 2 years ago and am just now getting my landscaping to a point that I can use my yard.

Behind the dye bins you can see my pumpkin patch. You need to look very closely to see the baby plants that just popped out a few days ago.

I planted very late and I’m counting on global warming to help me out this year. Lets all hope for a late frost.

Here is the rest of the garden. This is what it looked like a week ago:

And now today. Yay! It’s growing.

Most everything is doing well other than the peppers. They seem unwilling to grow much. I started them from seed and they sat indoors way too long but so did the tomatoes and those are most cooperative.

Here is a bit more late planting. I can’t recall what all of this is but I’m sure it will be yummy.

I’ve got some veggies in the front yard also but they aren’t photogenic yet, some aren’t even planted yet. Tomorrow it’s cucumber day as I just got a cool trellis for them to grow on.

It’s wonderful to finally have a yard again, and even better – a veggie garden. Later this fall I hope to plant some trees but for now, this is about it for green things.

I love the way you *casually* mention dyeing 60 yards of fabric, as if it were a simple afternoon activity!
