Forever Learning
When I walk into my studio, I try to leave my ego at the door.
By treating each new work of art as an exercise, as if I were a student in a workshop, I push myself to learn more and improve my skills.
I think no matter how many successes I might have with exhibiting and selling my art, there is always room to learn more, to do better.
The Art Biz Coach
The same is true of my art business. I can always learn more and do a better job running the business and marketing my art.
And that is why I continually turn to Alyson Stanfield, the art biz coach.
I found Alyson years ago, long before I was trying to sell my work. Back when the idea of marketing and selling art was a complete mystery to me. She unlocked that door and made it easy.
Her weekly emails, her blog, her classes, her book have all provide me with a wealth of information. I can never thank her enough for all she does.
Social Media Immersion
Much of what Alyson offers is free as she is a generous as she is knowledgeable, yet I find working with her directly always yields huge benefits.
I was thrilled I was able to free up my time to attend her Social Media Immersion workshop in Golden, CO this weekend.
Sure, I know a lot about social media, and use it daily. Yet I’ve been watching Alyson the past few years soaking in the latest research and information about social media while I’ve been in my studio.
I have no doubt I will learn quite a bit this weekend. And with the hands on portions of the workshop, I’ll also have time to spiff up some parts of my social media marketing on the spot.
You can still sign up for this workshop through Oct 13.
Conspiracy
Alyson doesn’t have in person workshops in Colorado very often, so I am also an Uber member of her Artist Conspiracy.
I’ve been a member since it started in January and check in often. I love that we set goals each month and the focus is on action.
It’s not just learning, it’s about doing. We’re making things happen for our art careers.
The Community
An added bonus, to both the workshop and The Conspiracy, is the community of artists that I have met through Alyson.
She attracts a fabulous crowd of motivated and dedicated artists, and those are the type of people I want to hang out with.
PS – Speaking of learning, another seat was claimed in my Working in a Series workshop yesterday. This leaves just 2 openings for artists ready to dig deeper into their art practice. Last day to sign up is Friday, October 14.

Gosh, I don’t even know what to say to this. I’m so humbled by your generosity.
But I will say you’re right! I do attract a “fabulous crowd of motivated and dedicated artists.” How cool is this? You’re one of them.
I’m blessed, indeed.
Thank you, Lisa.
You’re welcome Alyson. Just saying what I know!
Great love post! (As opposed to love note!)
I agree, Alyson is a true gem. We’re really lucky to be in Colorado with her to benefit first-hand from her expertise.
Can’t wait to see you this weekend and meet a ton of other cool, successful artists!
Lisa,
I agree that we can always learn to improve and make things better, whether it is our art or marketing.
And to get a chance to work with Alyson and meet other artists – It is such a wonderful opportunity.
I’m looking forward to meeting you and everyone else….better go pack!
Hear, hear! Alyson is absolutely the best in the field and extremely generous with sharing her knowledge. She gives one tools and practical wisdom that can’t be beat. I’m envious of you getting to spend the weekend working with her!
I have never met Alyson in person, but every single one of my interactions with her has shown me a woman who is smart, compassionate, and generous. She is one of the people who inspire me and teach me. I learned so much from her book as well as from her e-newsletters, blog posts and, of course, the Artists Conspiracy. she’s introduced me to new ideas and new friends. From the very first issue of her e-newsletter I learned applicable knowledge and skills. That’s so incredibly awesome in this day when freebies are everywhere and are often little more than advertisements with little substance.
Patricia,
I agree – Alyson is fabulous. It’s fun getting to know you in the conspiracy!
